How is IDH1's normal metabolic role different from a tumor mutation?
IDH1 makes an enzyme that normally converts isocitrate into another metabolic compound. Particular tumor-associated variants can change enzyme behavior, so their meaning cannot be assigned to every IDH1 finding.
