Why does aspirin's target pathway include PTGS1?
PTGS1 encodes COX-1, an enzyme involved in making prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. Aspirin can inhibit this pathway, but a PTGS1 variant does not by itself establish that aspirin is appropriate.
